The Tower is a deeply emotional fiction inspired by real-life interviews with Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. Wardi, an eleven-year-old Palestinian girl, lives with her whole family in the refugee camp where she was born. She searches collects her family's testimonies, from one generation to the next.
About the filmmaker: Born 1976, based in Norway. Director, scriptwriter and animator of the award-winning The Tower, a fully animated feature screened and celebrated at more than 30 festivals. In his childhood, Grorud’s mother worked as a nurse in refugee camps in Lebanon. In the 90s, he studied at the AUB in Lebanon while volunteering as English and Animation teacher at Burj el Barjaneh refugee camp. Based on the testimonies of the refugees and his time in the camp, he wrote the script of his first film.
